Speaking at the ceremony held on the occasion of promoting “E1000 Locally Produced Electric Locomotive”, Minister Avcı voiced his happiness to see locally produced electric locomotives on the rails adding that he wished to see the locomotive in all cities.

Minister Avcı went on to say:

“Railways have a dominant place in the history of some cities of our country. Eskişehir is one of these cities. There is railway culture in the identity and texture of this city which plays host to factories which were opened in order to produce railway products. I am a son of a railway worker of this city which is the home of small diners giving service to these workers, bicycles parked in front of these factories and voices special to these factories. The first railway initiative of Turkey was prompted by Sultan Abdülhamit II. The whole nation followed this dream that connects to Hejaz and Baghdad railways. It was the dream of connecting old cities of our geography. This same dream continues today with a second initiative if Allah permits. We are planning to include cities located in the old Silk Road and connect Caucasus with the Balkans. If Allah permits, Hejaz and Baghdad railways will survive. High speed trains departing from Anatolia will allow nations to reach to other again. Now, the locally produced electric locomotives will make a great contribution to this dream.”

Following the speeches, Minister Avcı together with Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık participated in the first run of the “E1000 Locally Produced Electric Locomotive”.
